i think whats wrong with both of those is that you should have less power on your flash to make background just a hint more exposed. expression on both is really funny. framing if good and everything else is ok. too strong flash kinda ruins a bit and besides expression everything else is just basic good, nothing special, but not bad. ill give 8/10 on first and 7/10 on second(bw kinda puts me off a bit).

tried to get some film look on this

Seems overprocessed to me, you dont have to overdo the whites and blacks to make it look like film. Id tone down the grain just a teeeeny bit too. But the picture itself isnt that appealing to me, its a little boring imo. 3/10

there´s too much bokehlicious space in there. the sharp part doesnt stand out because it´s being overwhelmed by the rest of the unfocused parts. lovely colors tho, could pump up contrast and saturation a tad. 4/10

Anyways, I like this 1 marco. The harsh shadows give good atmosphere. The sky being so bright seems to counter this, but it also gives this shot something different.

My image was from my first day using my camera. It is from a 500D with the kit lens. I accidently left my camera on 3200 ISO from when I was experimenting earlier, which caused all my shots to be poor.

Oh well.

4/10 b&w dont work here imo, black tones are too strong too.
