I might get a used 5D Mk I and save up for the 5D Mk II after that. Then, as soon as I have it, I sell the Mk I again and get the Mk II.

brilliant plan? y / n ?

24-70mm f2.8 L USM

or

24-105 f4 L IS USM

or

70-200mm f4 L IS USM

cant decide.

or I´ll just get a sigma 50mm 1.4 and a canon 85mm 1.8, but I actually want some wide angle, so prolly more towards one of the standard zooms.

24-70 2.8 L is an awesome lens. Make sure you have a good return policy, and return it until you get a sharp version.

Honestly, if you told me that... I would think: Would someone like me really know the difference if it's sharp or not???? Especially if it was my sharpest lens of all the "lower" ones I own...

Some people just got too much money...

Swedish photo forum, d7000 thread..

"When I film and zoom the camera changes aparture, bug or what"?
- No stupid, your lens doesn't have a fix aparture over the whole zoom range...

I've seen that question three times now... :(

Hm.. i would still opt for prime if you don't mind the minor "inconvenience". As highly regarded as the 24-70L is, it still doesn't touch my primes in sharpness and IQ. I don't know if it's just the age of the optic's design, but i think the 15-85 that i had was just as sharp if not sharper then the brick. In my experience ofc.

Sadly, their entry camera is a d7000...
But it should have been like d3100 or a point/shoot.. :P

hmmm ye but I kinda want a good standard zoom to get used to the 5D Mark II. and I´m craving for my first L to be honest, since I first tried one out at a local store. :D

By the way, I found a buyer for all my current stuff. the 1000D, the battery grip, the 2 crap lenses ( 18-55mm and 75-300mm ) and all my other stuff that belonged to my equip for ~ 350€. I`m only keeping my flash and a 50mm 1.8. the tokina 11-16mm will be sold aswell as soon as soon as I got it back from the manufacturer. guess I can get around 500 bucks for it.

that means, I`ll be the owner of an 5D Mk II pretty soon :P

what? why? how is it going to be different from learning with prime lens other than being 100 time more complex and time consuming?
