I suggest we create an event for voting in future contests, this may alleviate a few issues namely counting. This way would also allow only people that are eligible to vote into the event as they would require approval from the event creator. People that join can just post their number they vote for in a comment and discussions could take place in the original contest thread.

The contest had no parameters defining motion as such, it was left up to the contestants to decide how they would best capture motion. Each individual may have a different interpretation of what motion means to them, so it would be difficult to say that someone is wrong for the way they interpreted and captured the theme.

As him or as me? Then what is motion? Motion basically means movement.. and if you think number 4 is not motion something seriously is wrong. 15 is the only one to me that has nothing to do with motion, and maybe the dog.

I was going to post the exact same thing.

When I saw the theme motion, I thought "okay, something that moves" - not particularly something that looks like it's moving in the photo.

A tree would be an example of something that would not fit this theme. For motion, doesn't have to mean it has to be captured in such a way that it shows it's moving, because we all know in reality, DUH, that it's moving. At least that's the way I thought of it...

#4 and #12 would fall into theme catching the moment, thats the exact opposite of motion. im not complaining about pictures or the theme, im just saying that if there is a theme, people should follow it.

whats the point of even having a theme unless people dont post pictures that fit the theme and are still allowed to participate?

I think everyone totally mis-understood the theme. I see where you are coming from, at first maybe the contest rules should have been specified more on this particular theme in the beginning. But hey, third contest? I think we should put all of this past us and move on!

sorry i take back some of what i said. you dont need to have motion blur to show motion if you flash your strobe multiple times like this:

http://people.rit.edu/andpph/photofile-misc/strobe-motion-ta-08.jpg

now im starting to feel that you are just fucking with me. explain what part of all of this you dont understand or ill just assume that you are playing dumb

Stop looking for attention. If you think photo #4 is not motion.. I'm giving up on you. So childish.. As long as you don't use a long exposure that causes motion blur it's not moving? Don't even answer please

Oh geez I think he was just being picky.
That's all. At least he wasn't being rude and say this forum isn't good for him or anything like that.
He may be a pain the butt sometimes but at least he seems to be a somewhat humble person.

antichrist the theme is not "showin the motion" but "motion"
can be interpreted in many ways:
something that suggest motion
a weird movement
a thing that moves
etc
etc

you dont have to see the motion to feel it

SUGGESTION: we create a topic for the votes and one topic for comments and critics etc

Ok, as no one is trying to keep it clean, I will say my opinion as well...

The them name is Motion, it is obvious that it can be interpreted in many ways but:

Photography is always stopping something, normally is the complete opposite of motion. I love like picture number 5, but is is not giving me the sensation of motion, so I did not vote for it.

Other pics has maybe a better subject (see picture 4) but composition and technique are important as well and let me say that in this contest composition and technique are nothing special in almost all of the pics.

So, stopping an action in the simplest thing you can do, not something original at all, not something very different from a normal pic. I understand Antichrist's comment.

For me, only 1,2 and 15 are original ideas and technique is fine in all of them.

That is my idea of course and not the law, but please, think about it before you vote.

If we consider only technique is another thing, but to improve we must find the best compromise between the topic and the realization and to give the idea of movement is the interpretation I believe more correct.

For the future I would believe that it is better to have separate topics for voting and chatting...
