any tips for capturing concert images? i was using a 55-300mm lens at max zoom (just a canon rebel xsi), because when i got any closer the crowd would bump into me too much. i was leaning up against a wall for this particular shot as well. i think my settings were something like 800 or 1600 iso with 1/125 shutter(anything faster was coming out too dark). would you adjust the WB on just the singer, because the guitarist's shirt is a decent shade of white i thought.. also how much would you adjust it, because there were red lights used..didn't know if it would take away from the concert lighting. thanks.
I would get as close as I can so I could use a lower aperture on that lens, if you are zoomed in all of the way it was probably around 5.6 or 6.3. If I couldn't get any closer I would make sure my camera was in RAW and then shoot with about -2 EV and then fix it up in post processing. Or, if the camera could handle it, put it up to 3200 ISO.
For white balance, you should white balance to your subject if you have no choice other than getting one part of the image the right white balance. Also, that could be fixed in post processing.
