i think it would depend on what and where you want to shoot. studio work probably doesnt need a super sturdy tripod, but landscapes might.

Hey guys could u help me to choose a tripod pls? I'd like to buy one but I have no idea of where and wich one to choose.
Is it better to buy one on the internet? I went to the "Fnac" last week and they told me the best one for what I needed was at about 60 euros (which is quite a lot for my "student" budget).
So I need a tripod for my Sony a390, with the lens 18-55..
any advice?

for a semi-decent tripod you gonna pay $50+ (and even more in the Eu)
i have not seen any "cheap" brands that are decent (but here we certainly dont have the selection that you have in Eu or US) so i would recommend looking at a known brand, manfrotto, benro, slik, giottos (but they generally more expensive) there are more but then the price gets crazy
carbon fibre tipods are great if you gonna be carrying it a lot, but they do cost a fortune
make sure you get a tripod with a ball head, the normal/old style/video panning heads are crap, generally the bigger the ball the better and smoother it operates, but test some out first most will take the weight you require

hope i helped

I'm a complete camera noob, I just got a T3i for christmas. I only have the kit lens and a 50 mm 1.8. Just trying to learn some basics. Should I start playing around with taking photos in RAW or stick to jpeg till i get the hang of things?

stick to jpeg untill you start editing

start with the basics of composition and getting correct exposure
then learn about iso, aperture, shutterspeed and how they relate to exposure
once you are fimiliar and comftable with shooting on aperture or shutter priority (or even manual) then start looking at editing and shooting RAW

I'm looking at my options for a mirrorless system camera, because I'm fucking tired of having to carry around an SLR. Currently leaning towards a Fuji X-E1, but I'm open to better suggestions.

im really thinking about the oly om-d for all its features.

i know a lot of people like the x100 as a carry around for street too, limited to one lens tho.

Fixed lens :(

Heard very good things about the Fuji 35/1.4 which'd be a nice general prime to shoot with. Would upgrade to a 35mm equivalent if they get around to releasing one, but the standard lenses are pretty rock solid already.

I'm leaning towards the Fuji just because it's got a bigger sensor, and it's still a decent portable size.

Fixed is pretty cool for the street, forces you to get close with every shot.

Quite a hefty pricetag for a camera with fixed length though.

I used the previous model for a day a year or so ago and I admit I was pretty disappointed with the focus system and the menus. Sounds like it's all fixed up now.
