ok will do :)

Why not print well? :o

While your camera may be able to produce enough pixels to print, let's say, an 11x14", unless you provide the background texture as a sort of vector to the printer, enlarging it may produce ugly pixelization. Try zooming in on it at 1:1 and see if this happens. It's probably going to have to be ~5 mb file for it to enlarge well.

Never mind no need to zoom it in. Try printing it as an 8x10, since those are cheap to print.

No, the original picture was not edited at all, or maybe a tiny little bit of contrast, not even sure.
It was shot indoors with natural light coming from 4 windows, the rest of the room being drywall and reflective insulation... (my room is not finished)

edit:
Oh wait!
I know what's about their eyes....
It was Christmas Eve, minutes before getting in the car to drive to my parents' house...
Needless to say how excited they were!!!

Oic. That must be it. Usually, your children have this dreary, can-we-stop-now dullness in their eyes, because I'm sure they're not incredible photo enthusiasts such as yourself.

I'm kiddin about the eyes btw :D
