considering the fact that the tokina is a zoom and has 3mm more at the lower and, while only costing 1/4 of the canon lens, I´d definately pick the tokina. If I´d had the money tho, I´d love to get my hands on the canon prime. Ofc you can expect much greater sharpness, better build and better overall quality...... I mean...... it´s a 2000 bucksL......... you can expect an awesome lens for that.
Even though the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 is a EF mount lens. It wouldn't quite work on a full frame camera, while it does fit on the camera.. it will vignette heavily till 16mm.
Now Tokina announced a 16-28mm f/2.8 for full frame sensor camera (equivalent to a 10-18 on a APS-C sensor camera). If that is as good as the 11-16.. it should be a hot seller.
