Just shoot raw instead of harming the image in camera :P

I don't think it harms it. Not a destructive process. It just tells the red pixels to be redder etc. It's completely reversible in post. (that is if you shoot raw)

Jpeg in itself is a destructive process.

edit: If you were shooting a landscape or anything that has a high tonal value, shooting anything other than raw is silly.

I'm going to take a picture of myself like yours with the nikon/canon combo. Is that a cig in your mouth?

I'm afraid to shoot in raw!!!
Like... not sure where the images go when I load them from camera... not even sure how the hell to load them from camera in the first place..
Also afraid it will take so much time figuring it out I'll just trash the photos...
I guess once I have it done it's gonna be easy...
I just don't know where to start... :o

You shoot .jpeg?? :O

Why?????

Either install DPP from the disc that came with the camera or download the trial for LR3 here.

shooting raw isnt any different than shooting .jpeg >.<

only difference is you got a whole lot more informations included in the file, which allows you to edit alot more things in the past processing, such as exposure, colors, highlights and shadows etc etc etc

I installed something that was on a cd that came with the camera, but I have no idea what it is or how to use it...
I'm working 12 hour day shifts till Thursday included, but maybe on Friday I'll take a look and go shoot in RAW...
I may need someone to hold my hand after to show me step by step what to do after I plug the camera to the computer...
Remember, I am very new to digital photography, and used to only shoot film with none of that digital and post processing stuff :RUN:
