Change of plans...
Women can never make up their mind....

Ok I realized yesterday that I need to upgrade my camera... I can always rent the lenses...

I checked at the Montreal store for Canon cameras and couldn't find 40D or 50D, only 60D which seems to be in between the rebels and the Mark...
Is that any good?
Would it help me and make a difference in action shots?

Would my grip fit on that camera?
Should I get the body only?

I have been using Canon since I was 10 years old... that was over 30 years ago, whatever the reasons, there is no one on earth who can make me switch :p
I rented a lens at that store (see link above), they have great quality and choice!

I admire you dedication ;) I still cant make a un-bias opinion about either considering ive only shot nikon. heh

Best to do local stores eh? fastest and most convenient i would imagine.

dont get the 18-200, it is crap compared to any 70-200. Try to find a used 50D or 7D, that is the best deal I think. 60D is a mistake from Canon.

Dont get also the 40D. if you are unlucky you get one which has a problematic shutter that dies after 30-40K shots. It is a production mistake of the 40D.

This is something I should have done a long time ago, my poor old Rebel XTI.

I don't really know much about upgrading cameras, but I hope you get something that works well for you & that you are happy with the decision !

Read post 43 :p
Old people cannot change old habits either

So 50D is what I should go for?
7D is a little expensive I think... but what is the difference between the 2?

This is one I'm looking at on kijiji:

Any second opinion before I spend my kids' food money on this?

Oh I definitely will! I'm going full frame for my next camera. It'll be some years yet before I can purchase it anyway. Besides, if I switched brands - that would mean having to get all new lenses again. That would be a painful process!

Yes, that's the unfortunate part! I wish somehow I would win the lottery (I've never bought a ticket in my life) and win 10 thousand - that would be perfect! But then maybe it'll be like diablo - eventually I'll have 'all the good stuff' and it'll be boring.
