but it doesent have multi stop metering, good weather seals(yes it can take crappy weathers, but the weather seals are pretty damn unrealible and might fail any moment), good af etc etc.

i got canon 50mm 1.4 and zeiss 135mm 3.5 besides 24-105

Multi stop metering? What's that? I thought the seals are somewhat decent.. It handles light rain and snow without any issues.. It's not like i'm dunking my camera underwater for any time soon :P

Yeah.. you might need a 17-40.. 24 is no where close to wide enough on a FF.

Why would you want to manual focus?

That's what I love about the 1ds III... sweet sealing.

:( You post once every 2 months and you happen to post in my thread this time but without critiques </3

it was a typo, meant to write multi spot metering :D . many people have said that their 5d mkII got fucked up with small rain and many more has said that you shouldnt count on its seals much more than non sealed cameras. but many have used the camera in extreme conditions and nothing happened to it, but so have many people used 40d for example too..

it depends if you are looking for ultra wide angles or not, i think 24mm would be wide enough most the time with full frame, since its wide enough most the time even with 1.3 crop

Lol.. What's multi-spot metering?

Well true.. but this didn't do anything to my camera... I know it's not "extreme" but it's pretty extreme to me.

i can pick up to 8 spots using spot meter and the camera calculates averages between the spots and sets exposure based on that(in av, tv etc). naturally i can click for example once on shadow area, twice on mid tones and once well lit areas or similar to that if i want to. pretty damn handy if you want correct exposures, not to mention that the exposure reading button is next to shutter release button. heres a link that explains it in more depth http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetArticleAct&articleID=1626

that looks pretty extreme to me, i dont think it would make much of a difference if you covered the whole camera with snow. personally i would be afraid to do that if i wouldnt use some 1d series camera

:o I want a 1d series camera now. Shouldn't have asked :wallbash:

That's a sweet feature :S

I've heard of more extreme cases such as a 7D on potn where it was dropped into a top loading washing machine.. It lingered for a few minutes until the owner found out.. The 7D survived without any problems :P

IQ in the 5D II > Most of the 1D series. If only the 5d II had the 7d's AF...

Then it would be worth 5k at least.

Iono man, I think that's a pretty good price. If Canon wants to knock off Nikon from the 2k range, make a 5d III with 7d's AF and slightly better iso. Then they'll be stuck with cameras like the D90 losing vs the rebels.

Check my edit.

5D II with 7D af is into 1Ds territory.

Only thing missing is the build quality, sealing and customization functions.

I'm sure canon has some improvements for the 1D that will blow the 7d's AF away. Like extreme dynamic ranges, face follow af, etc.
