I find the kit lens pretty useful for everyday shots. I thought I was going to shoot only a specific type of "style" when I got my camera, but I found I'm taking pictures of so many things now - not just the landscape pictures that I though I was only going to be taking.
If I were you I'd purchase a camera body with the kit lens - learn how to use your camera and then decide on what specific type of lens you want after

unless you are getting a discount by including another lens - I would just stick with a camera body and the kit lens that comes along with it!
Thanks for the help man.
yeah I was kinda thinking the same thing, buy the body with the kit lens
But I wasn't too sure if there was a cheapish lens that was better than the kit lens

Hi!
For my first DSLR camera I got the Canon Xti (400d). I love it so far... bought myself a couple lenses already and I'm having a blast. It's a great camera for an entry level Dslr user

Even the older model I am sure would do just fine as well! The newer models are neat, too. But of course go with what you can afford. I spent 800 on this camera back when it was "new". Now I see them going for 500-600-ish, lucky you

I would recommend this camera if any

I've never used a nikon before... I was always happy with Canon and had good experience with them.
Kit lens (18-55mm) is decent for beginning too... but once you've explored other lenses and purchased some more, you probably won't end up going back to it.
Well I found the XSi for 671 here:

Edit: What's the difference between that and the 450D?
