As i said, look on amazon - the xsi is <$700

Instead of asking people to post links, why not go to this site and type in ''canon XTI''
http://www.google.com/products

Alright I found the XSi for $671.
Or I can buy the body for $564.
Should I buy it with the kit lens [EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens] or buy the body and buy a 100-150 dollar lens that's better for shooting landscapes/nature etc.

I find the kit lens pretty useful for everyday shots. I thought I was going to shoot only a specific type of "style" when I got my camera, but I found I'm taking pictures of so many things now - not just the landscape pictures that I though I was only going to be taking.

If I were you I'd purchase a camera body with the kit lens - learn how to use your camera and then decide on what specific type of lens you want after :)

unless you are getting a discount by including another lens - I would just stick with a camera body and the kit lens that comes along with it!

Hi!

For my first DSLR camera I got the Canon Xti (400d). I love it so far... bought myself a couple lenses already and I'm having a blast. It's a great camera for an entry level Dslr user :) Even the older model I am sure would do just fine as well! The newer models are neat, too. But of course go with what you can afford. I spent 800 on this camera back when it was "new". Now I see them going for 500-600-ish, lucky you ;) I would recommend this camera if any :) I've never used a nikon before... I was always happy with Canon and had good experience with them.

Kit lens (18-55mm) is decent for beginning too... but once you've explored other lenses and purchased some more, you probably won't end up going back to it.

Thanks for the help man.
yeah I was kinda thinking the same thing, buy the body with the kit lens
But I wasn't too sure if there was a cheapish lens that was better than the kit lens :P

Well I found the XSi for 671 here: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Digital-Camera-18-55mm-3-5-5-6/dp/B0012YA85A/ref=dp_ob_title_ce?ie=UTF8&qid=1238979960&sr=1-8
So I'm debating this.

Edit: What's the difference between that and the 450D?

I found some info on it from this site here, read some of the replies...

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080506172004AAip2VC

Know that some people get very technical when comparing cameras, and to be honest when I read reviews, I had no idea what they were talking about till I've actually used a DSLR before. :)

Here's another site I found: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/canon_eos_xsi_vs_xti_vs_40D.html

Some say buy the cheaper one (that being the xti) and go for the expensive lenses. In all though I haven't heard of anything bad about the xti, all people that own it has liked the camera. I actually missed the live view from my point and shoot (for certain photos at least) but I realized that using the view finder was a very different way of approaching photography and I enjoy learning that way rather than live view. In other words I can live without it :) The only difference really is that the xsi is a little upgraded and has a few new features. (like the live view, bigger mega pixels (10 is plenty imo) and some other technical stuff)
