only 2 opinions about my lens issue? :P

I don't really have an opinion; I don't have any knowledge about it so my opinion would be useless :)

I know about the Sigma wide angle because I have it, but I know nothing of the 1000D. Only thing I would say is that if you can afford the better quality, I'd go for it. I would have loved to get the Canon wide angle but it was just way too pricey at the time.

The 1000D or Rebel XS is just like your XTI but with 2 focus points less and LiveView otherwise they are virtually identical.

IMO the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 is the best option it's sharp, wider maximum aperture and cheaper than the Canon lens. The loss of one millimeter on the wide end is really unnoticeable. I don't know where you got the one third less coverage from or whatever.

What do you think is more important for general photography. Buying the tokina 11-16mm first, or the speedlite 430 EX II and the lens afterwards? I know its a dumb question, just let me know your opinions straight out of head.
I mean generally speaking, what do you think would be of bigger use in everyday´s photographing-life

11-16mm isnt made for general photography, its an extreme wide angle so its kinda an special purpose lens. external flash isnt needed much in general photography unless you do most of your photographing in so low light that you need a flash.

there isnt a right answer to your question, it all depends on your own preferences..

ye I know. Thing is, I enjoy shooting architecture quite alot at the moment. But then again, I might have the chance to be an event photographer in a local night club. I´d definately need a flash for that........

i wouldnt use 11-16mm for architecture, the lens is so wide that its bound to have so much distortion that it wouldnt look good

so it´s rather for landscapes or what? and what would you suggest for architecture then? I´m having alot of trouble getting buildings on my frame with the 18-55 kit lens I have.

camera with a larger sensor and a wide angle tilt/shift lens. are you trying to shoot a skyscraper from ny streets or how is not 18mm wide enough?

Yeah... unless he wants to spend almost 5 grand on a 5Dmk2 and TS-E 17L I think either Tokina 11-16 or Canon 10-22 would be good enough for architecture and distortions created by ultra wide lenses can be corrected in pp.

how about 1d mkI or 1ds + some old medium/large format manual focus lens with tilt/shift adapter? i just saw one 1d sold for under 200€ and i think price of 1ds is around 500€ atm. you can also make tilt/shift lens out of medium format lenses quite easily by mounting it to flexible plastic tube.
