This is what I hate about Sigma lenses I mean I have only bought one Sigma lens so far and it produces images with one very soft spot on the right side even when I stop down to f/9 and I never really dared to shoot wide open unless I really really had to. So I just went back to the store where I bought it and they helped me to send it back to Sigma for recalibration which would take about 6 weeks and that was 3 weeks ago :rolleyes:

I have heard people complaining about soft copies of Canon 24-70L and that's an expensive lens but I guess I got lucky with mine because it's sharp wide open at all focal ranges.

Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm; f/7.1; 1/25sec
I don't even need to do a 100% crop of the lower right corner to tell it's extremely soft. :rolleyes:

@hästjävel
nice signature :thumbsup:

Sigma 10-22mm
Canon 10-22mm
Tokina 11-16mm

What would you get for a 1000D? at first I wanted to get the tokina due to its awesome sharpness, but then I thought about 11mm wouldnt be so super wide angle on a crop body. I heard the 10mm actually can actually display about 1/3 more compared to 11mm. any suggestions?

I have the Sigma 10-20 and don't notice any softness in any of the corners, I usually shoot between F5.6 - F/11 with slower shutter speeds with a tripod however.

The Tokina 11 - 16 for sure! Nicely build and extremely sharp! It has the lowest CA between those mentioned.

So does this simply mean I can send it for callibration? I plan to buy that lens eventually.

Well it seems that Canon had some quality issues with that lens a few years ago but they seem to have fixed that problem so those of us who have bought that lens in recent years shouldn't have problem with it at all. Yes, even if you get extremely unlucky and receive a sub-standard copy you can always send it in for calibration. If you want I will keep you informed about possible future rebates Canon will give on that lens :)

Oh yeah, that lens would be perfect for weddings! I just wish I have weddings to go to so I will be able to use most of my lenses which are really for portraits but I am currently kinda misusing them for shooting birds and nature stuff lol.
