At my first horse show I covered, I got a client (my only one) who suggested I go on Facebook..
I went to another horse show where we were 4 photographers and so far I sold 2 photos, more orders maybe in the mail....
I am thinking about maybe making a website, but not sure investing so much money will bring it back...
I must make a name for myself with exposure... got already over 1500 contacts on FB (I don't call them friends cause I don't know 99% of them) and plan on going to 2 different horse shows (a rodeo maybe and a hunter/jumper show) ...
Any advice is welcome....

There are plenty of free templates and free hosting sites to accomodate your website.

I use Flickr for hosting photos but anyone can download them... I need to make a web site with Flash, much harder to steal photos...

I kinda played around with this one but it'S not free... I'm in the trial time for now...
http://www.93529.cms-tool.net/
(many pictures on it are completely unrelated but were the only available to me at work when I played around with this...)

This one is free... I'd have to edit each picture and put the number on it so I can find them in my files afterwards....

Any suggestions?
Which one would be better?

Or any other ones to suggest?

Ok I was looking again at my Dressage Horse show pictures and now I know I need the fps of the 7D....
It is extremely hard to be perfectly times with the exact movement when the horse is extended to his maximum... and that is what is desirable in that discipline...

You need to make a prettier copyright logo. "name of business @ insert website here"

Good idea :)
Will do when I make up my mind on web site..
But did you check the 2 I posted that I started working on?
Would the free one be sufficient you think?
Or should I go for the paying one?

Think about your market, and really be honest with yourself: will you ever make the money back? I don't think you'll be moving into the city. So is it worth it? if it's not, then you should quit now, before you get yourself into some heavy debt.

Quit what? Photography???
I must be missing something here....
If I go for the market then I should buy the 5d and get 1000$ more in debt compared to if I buy the 7d and shoot for passion (horses).
5d = more debt and more frustration because I won't perform enough in high speed action.
7d = less debt and maybe less income, but the satisfaction and happiness of getting the results I work for.
I already have an income from my work of 72k, ofc I would like to make more to afford better gear and travel and eat better and more and more, and at my age, it is better to be happy than make more money....

quit the ideas of heavy inevstment. If you're already making 72k/year, then you should change your lifestyle a bit to afford the best equipment possible and if it makes you happy become a serious, renowned photographer.
