You have to render the horse in order to do that.
Otherwise it would look bad.

I don't understand the word 'render' :(

I had done this last night with that same picture:

'render' means to cut out the horse from it's background, which is exactly what you're doing. If you're going to change the background like that, be sure to adjust on contrast + a little on brightness + white balance. #2 looks real.

Actually I don't really 'cut' the horse...
I use different layers and 'multiply' then erase the background part from the horse :)

It is hard though because the background being so white, hard to do it very smooth...
Do you know how to drop some black onto the white?

all good pics, i like 1 the way it is
if you want to fill the area with black;
magic wand or whatever its called, select the sky, then just paint bucket

but really it wont look good, stick to the white

Got it black, but can't get the clone tool to work now to get rid of the white that is left around the horse....
