Let's make the theme: an apple on a dark wooden table with lighting from the left with a central composition. We would have about the same variety in entries

Oh yeah sorry forgot about that. The theme was a little vague you're right. Or shall we leave that up to the contestants so we can see some big surprises in the entries ^^. That would make it so exciting. Artistic freedom!

I would prefer a theme that isn't seasonal. I'm from Canada... Over Half our season is winter. Fall is passed leaves are pretty much all gone I'd have no chance in the contest. That and people haven't hit fall yet.

Theme should be a picture of a wheat field.
