my mom is paying for this and she wants me to buy the camera itself new.. not sure why but she is being stubborn.
she doesnt care about the lens..
so where can i find a new e-1?

The E-1 isn't made anymore since it came out back in 03 ... you have no choice but to get it used. You won't find a weather sealed "pro cam" from $200 brand new these days.

If I had to suggest something new to you it'd be something like the Olympus EPL-1 or EP2 because it's very portable, great images, and basically like a DSLR in a tiny package. Albeit you will pay $600 for brand new.

Or if you don't want something that can change lenses, check out the new Nikon Coolpix P7000 at $500 ... it looks like a very capable camera.

This forum is 100% legit ... I have purchased stuff for it. Other than this forum I recommend craigslist where you can meet someone (At a public place) and try before you buy.

I see one on that page for $220  ... http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/showthread.php?t=59190

Btw, before you actually buy something I recommend you go out and get it in your hands and play a little. In fact, this guy I know wrote a useful little guide to purchasing stuff.

e-1 seems to have awful lots of noise, it looks bit like on film, but since the camera has so little mega pixels, the pixels start to show up easy with lots of noise and what looks like pixelation(where it differs from nice looking film grain). but if you dont need to crop much and there is much light coming in camera(/ well lit subject, so that you dont need to raise too much cameras sensor sensitivity and get noise from high sensitivity) it seems like a great choice and seems to give colors for jpg pictures. but if you do some minor adjustments in photoshop, you can get same results from newer camera with less noise and more mega pixels so that you can crop more(or make bigger prints or just view details with zoom on computer) before picture starts looking too mushy.

I did. it may have only been the body but that was 2600 given for the sole purpose of purchasing that body :/

I really wish I'd have kept it but alas, I was an ignorant immature teenager (still am for the most part) and now I know better
