Memory buffer is another advantage that comes with most DSLR cameras. It allows you faster continuous shooting, which is stored on to low-speed memory cards afterward.

Sometimes you can't just trust everything those salespersons tell ya. They may be good at selling but many of them don't know much about the stuff they are selling.

That is right :)

The card can transfer minimum 6 MB per sec.

Oh I see. The newer Sandisk Extreme IV could transfer 45mb/s so is it a class 45 card or something? :p

No. :)

See, the thing is 45 is MAX on those cards. It could be from 0 to 45mb/s.
A SDHC class 6 you are always over 6mb/s.

SD Cards and SDHC Cards have Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied":[6]

* Class 2: 2 MB/s - 13x
* Class 4: 4 MB/s - 26x
* Class 6: 6 MB/s - 40x

SD and SDHC cards will often also advertise a maximum speed (such as 133x or 150x) in addition to this minimum Speed Class Rating. One critical difference between the Speed Class and the maximum speed ratings is the ability of the host device to query the SD card for the speed class and determine the best location to store data that meets the performance required. "Maximum speed" ratings are quoted by the manufacturers but unverified by any independent evaluation process.

yeah yeah whatever it's all confusing.
so you mean that those class 6 cards could NEVER EVER go below 6mb/s?? and what's the point with those cards anyway I mean those 45max cards are probably still faster in average transfer speeds anyway :p
and why are people so obsessed with extremely fast cards :p since the speed of your card don't affect burst speed of your camera anyway :p hehe I guess I am in this arguing mood right now lol.

I can not see why using a fast card anyway. My cards are doing the job fine, and I saved a lot of money. :D

Whoa... So wait, does CF run by the same standards at SD and SDHC?

Not sure. From Wikipedia^

I know that higher class memory cards, record the information faster, allowing you to take full advantage of the burst mode on a camera.
A Class 1 card will not be able to take full advantage of 4 or 5 FPS shooting, as it cannot record the image that fast, so it wont allow you to shoot that fast either.

Well if they do then that means, I'm really happy I got a CF in my camera, my current card is 133x and I may be getting a 500x soon.

yeah as long as you get those well known brands and not those no name crap you'll be fine besides most cameras don't even support the faster speed those 5645644454x cards offer anyway.

I see some people choose to believe their dear camera salesmen rather than hard facts but whatever xD
