I got some high speed internet stuff or w/e for $19.99/month, and then when we add in the 999 TV channels, it's like $40 a month I think in total.

Just go get some illegal hookup ROFL :p

Same with me...
Cable doesn't reach the street I live on... and yes it is in a rural area...
The phone lines are extremely old and can only support 28 kb/sec (sometimes if I'm lucky I go upt to 31 kb/sec)...
There is absolutely no way to get a better connection other than satellite, and I can't afford it and it's not even better than dial-up for gaming....

And I also know it's very expensive to get new lines out there, since it is so far away, which would make for a longer trip. My friend once had dial-up; for the longest time. One day her brother decided to try high speed internet (i think it was wireless) with his laptop and it worked... haha.

It is crappy though having dial-up - I've used it before and it's torture :(

I had a tethering plan on my phone so I was getting about 300kbs download and it only cost about $15 a month, but the connection would constantly drop and I would have to reconnect it every 10 or 15 minutes.

Ouch! I know my mom is still using dial up as well course she is just too cheap to get broadband lol but she still get around 40-50kb/s. I have heard that in some countries you could actually ask the government to help you get better phone lines so you would be able to have access to faster internet connection but I guess Canada is just too big and it would probably be waaaaaay expensive for them to upgrade the system. So how do you like playing D2 with dial up connection? I bet you've never played HC xD jk

No, the connection between the cell phone and computer kept dropping, I asked the phone company and they said it is supposed to do that to conserve data when you leave the computer and there wasn't a way to stop it.

Haha, we pay $60 a month for TV and we have somewhere near 2,000 channels, I watch about 10-15 of them. Satellite TV is the best, everything is digital and HD.

Satellite internet on the other hand just downright sucks, except the for $400 a month T1 connection, but I haven't that kind of cash.
