Yeah, editing does deserve as much right, I was just saying my opinion before on how my style is not editing :)

I agree that art is art, there is no right or wrong. I've seen a lot of sayings like "my photos, my rules" ... meaning there's no right/wrong way to do photography or art for that matter.

Yeah, I realize it is hard to explain haha it's also hard to explain without giving the wrong impression.

well this topic was mainly answering to Veilside, but you guys pretty much have the same view points as Veilside.

Yeah I guess you are right ^^
Though I do usually try to keep an open mind but sometimes I am just too stubborn to embrace certain things :p lol Well nobody is perfect, right? :p

well its kind of like how some people dont like your hair a certain way, too long too short too weird too crazy, you can judge them with whatever right you think you have and it might make an impact on what they think or they might not give a rats poop, you cant make everyone happy, but i think people should do what they think looks good or is right not what other people think.

to me i like to see all the things in front of me, even if i decide that i only believe one way i still am aware of all of the things that arent what i believe in.

if i see something that isnt what i would support i still think its cool because maybe something will spark and i would start to.

i know a lot of people that say negative things about it and then after time they jump on the band wagon like nothing is wrong. :)

sorry this topic is really hard for me to explain since theres so many views.

hmm I am not sure if you should compare dressing and having your hair in a certain way to photoshopping but I guess it's all about what you feel like doing and what you prefer. I used to have a friend who kept asking me if her new haircut was good or if anyone has told me anything bad about her appearance (well personally I think she needs professional help) I just asked her if she was satisfied with her own appearance or not. Some people are just waaaaaaaay too self conscious and care way too much about what others think of them and I think same thing could be said about some of the people who post photos in here.

Well I am glad to see someone who is as open minded as you :)

Well I think a lot of serious photographers and hobbyists usually avoid to over editing their photos. I have even heard some of those so called pros say that digital photography and photoshop have totally ruined photography lol but that sounds really extreme though ^^

depends on your taste. :)

also ive seen tons of people make crappy p&s quality photos into ones that are as good or better than dsl.
so there are a lot of pros and cons, it just all depends on how you see it.

its because you can do just as good with less effort and faster.
but i think at the same time editing takes practice too, but compared to some things its easier to pick up.

Ok, I hope you won't think I am rude or being snippy or whatever but if you look for the word photography in a dictionary or an encyclopedia you would find something like this:

in this case from Wikipedia.

Photography (pronounced /fәˈtɒɡrәfi/[1]) (from Greek φωτο and γραφία) is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures by recording radiation on a sensitive medium, such as a film, or an electronic sensor.

so by adding effects or whatever which would produce results that are waay different than the captured image that kind of post processing should NOT be called photographs but instead be called graphic art. I am not saying graphic art or computer generated image are not art or inferior to photographs in fact I do admit that some of the images I have seen in the graphic art forum are actually more beautiful than most of the photos I have seen.

thats the bases, photography has evolved, and its only the definition of the word simple and plain photography, not going into more depth.

like if they were to say the term shoes, something to cover the feet. shoes can be made in many ways shapes forms styles and 5094093 different other names as long as it covers your feet. (im bad at giving examples and im not sure if that was a good one but thats what came to my mind first.)

I must actually say that I agree 100% with mew on this one :p If it were as you say futu than all my shots are graphic art, as very few that I post haven't had any saturation or hue changes x3.
