Im looking at:
Sony A200 (dont really like it but some people say its good)
Nikon D60 (looks good, nice value for money with 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm lens)
Canon EOS 450D (same price as Nikon but with only EF-S 18-55mm lens)
I do like taking photos, and i would love to start to learn to take photos with one of these machines, ive looked at some reviews and most people say i cannot go wrong with the nikon or canon, which both look much better then the sony, and are both double the price! I would be prepared to pay the money for the better camera, though.
I just want a great performing camera which i cant go wrong with!
There was a big journalist i went fishing once with, and he told me i should get a good sound camera, but i must have a great lens, so maybe im better with the Nikon?
It would be great if you could tell me which camera you think i would be best with,
Thanx,
Doyleo
Hello, I actually JUST bought my first DSLR.
Now, with Sony you are most likely not going to get as good of quality as you would with Canon or Nikon.
The reason being is Sony is a general electronic manufacturer, meaning they sell TV's, mp3's computers...and even dslrs.
This means they spend less time on each of the things, to have more than 1 thing to sell...
Now with Canon and Nikon, they are pretty much solely Camera manufactures. They spend all their time on Cameras, instead of
1/2 a day on a camera and the other 1/2 on a TV.
The Nikon D60 only has 3 auto-focus points (Meaning you only have a choice of focusing 3 parts of the picture)
The Nikon D60 also does NOT have a live view function.
The NikonD60 is using older Image Processors as well.
The Canon Rebel 450d/XSI (The one I JUST bought) Is actually not Entry-Level, but not Professional.
If you are VERY new to using any kind of camera, I would recommend Canon's rebel 1000D/XS. (It's also a cheap price.)
For me I would recommend the 450D!
The 450D using a Digic III Image Processor, which is the same kind that those $4000 Canon cameras use!
The 450D also has a 3", Live view function, which is perfect for some hard to get the shots.
Also, with a Canon you are getting a MUCH LARGER array of lenses of chose from!
The 450D ALSO has 9 POINT auto focus system, compared to Nikon D60's 3 point.
When you buy the XSI, you will find it very easy to understand and use with the very simple manuals included.
When you are just starting it may be a bit difficult, but when you get better it will also get better with it.
Meaning, since it is not a very beginner dslr, you will not be limited to taking beginner kind of shots!
Now, it's ultimately your decision, but I just bought the Rebel 450D and have produced some AMAZING picture with it!
+ With the larger array of lenses, you can get ever better images!!
