I like it, very soothing to the eyes and the composition is great!
I can't seem to be able to take a nice photo of branches with sky... tried and deleted them all
In yours the lines have a nice orientation, and the little bundles of leaves add the the lines of the branches :)
Nicely balanced!

Here's mine...
I hope I didn't over-processed it..
The original was so boring and blend...

like this pic, but i feel by sticking to the rule of thirds your focal point would have made more of an impact. plus i dont like the contrast on the clouds it kinda looks like the colours have been inverted. 6/10

Yay, thanx that was unexpected! :D

It's a pity I'm still using a stupid cheap digicam and still a newbie hehe, so this means much to me, I love shooting skies, clouds and all this hehe but I also usually delete 90% of all shots

this explains it better than i can:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds

basically if you follow the rule your horizon should be higher up (with land covering 1 third of the frame, and sky 2 thirds) and the tree on the left or the right of center. hopefully this explains, if it doesnt i can try harder :D

I think he wanted to see the tree on the left or right third. The horizon is fine at that level, the clouds are much more of a story than the ground and what is on it. For this shot, having that tree in the center works. I honestly don't think putting it to a side will add to the shot. NEVER think that your subject absolutely has to be in a 3rd. Don't be that narrow minded.

I think you covered it...
I think my tree is on the bottom third vertically, and for my concept of 'Standing Alone' , I wanted the tree to be in the middle horzontally.
And I played a little with HDR using a single shot (adding an overexposed version and an underexposed one and blending them) to get the drama effect of the sky.
If I had added more of the wheat feld, then my tree would have been more in the center or the picture and think then it would not have followed any rule of third...
That's how I view it and what I've learned so far from people here :D

There's absolutely nothing happening. It's an empty room. Not even the grunge feel makes it interesting.
