I'd get some good quality neutral density filters, both graduated and solid. Basically, ND filters are just grey filters that block out a certain amount, you get them in full stops (and probably half and third stops), so say you want to shoot at f1.8 in high light areas and want to show something like water over a few seconds, you'd need to put a few ND filters in front of the lens to be able to do that. A graduated filter essentially only blocks half the frame, if you've ever shot skies and stuff, you'll notice that often your sky will either be overexposed and the ground fine, or the other way around, the graduated filter would prevent that.

ah ok. they seem to be quite cheap so I might get some of those. do you think it´d pay of if I´d buy a new lense for..... well lets say portrait photog.... ? and do you have a suggestion for a flash aswell?

Good quality ones aren't cheap...


For portrait photography, a 50mm f1.8 would be perfect, it'll be slightly longer due to you using a crop sensor body which is fine, as the normal "perfect" portrait lens on a full frame is 85mm.
As far as a flash as concerned, stick with Canon, and go with whichever one you can afford.

shall I get that lens? You guys told me that this would be quite a good choice for portrait photography. its around 150€ here in germany. Would it pay off? I´m still using the kitlens ~

alright. was about to order it anyway. what would be a good lens for night shooting in general btw? any recommendings?
