You rated that portrait a 5/10 for the reason "thing in background is distracting"
I think I just choked a little. That is by far one of the best portraits in this thread, let alone the entire forum.
I think this plain, simple, boring photo of a tent with 2 chairs lacks" interestingess", focal point and fails to show any technical considerations taken into consideration when it was shot.
You could have even boosted the contrast in Photoshop to make it at least somewhat appealing.
Sorry if this comes off harsh, but you just rated one of the best portraits I've seen in this forum in a while a 5/10, and then posted rubbish.
1/10.

agreed, his photo is just a greyish mess if you ask me, and that portrait was kinda nice ^^

Now to your pic, I really think that soft water adds badly together with such a harsch detailed background.
Still I do like the details, but I would have tried a faster shutter.

Fast shutter speed for water? That's unheard of. You're crazy.

I said faster, which doesn't automatically mean super fast.
And well, I don't have to be crazy to think that "slow" water isn't always the best for a picture

Its a very nice silhouette, and the colors are quite pretty. I dont care for the noise in this one, it makes it seem lq. Maybe try to reduce the noise some? 6/10

Lots of flaring in the shot. Light is extremely harsh making the colors washed out. The picture is soft overall with no defined focal spot. 3/10 : /

Lighting is on the dull side, which doesn't really bring out much color or contrast on the bricks. Should go and choose a better angle to shoot from, perhaps one that brings out the detail of the bricks a bit more. The door is also something you could focus on a bit more, but all-in-all, not a very interesting picture. 4/10

i like this, i think the bg compliments the bird very nicely and love the blur. But i hate the boarder, with the boarder 7/10 but without imo 8.5/10
