I think what he meant to say is that the bokeh is too buttery smooth. :D

That's what I was getting at.

Pretty cool and it's quite sharp. The sepia seems to suit the image. Maybe next time you shoot the shot, try implementing a little movement in the subject, gently blow air on it and slow the shutter right down. It will create another element or depth to the image. The highlight in the bottom right is drawing my eye downwards :/ Can you mirror the image or maybe clone it out? 4/10

A pic from a recent Christening I shot, shot with ambient window light (125th@f4@3200iso). Just one of many that myself and the client were really happy with:

After reading your cnc, and looking at the picture again, now I can't look away from that bottom corner. Damn you!

Gah, this is so amazing. The lighting is perfect (especially for the occasion). Both of their expressions are adorable. Great capture, iso you whenever we get around to our christening xD

lol no problems man, i'll give it a crack :)

The most important thing though is attention to detail while shooting the image and giving self criticism afterwards.

You will be amazed at how much time you actually have to shoot a shot. Relax for 20 seconds, breath in, and think about all the elements of your subject.

Criticize mine and I'll critique back

I agree that the lighting is superb! Great capture of the moment. But also.. i don't know if it's the small size.. but it seems like the suit collar is slighly sharper then the baby's eyes. I know they're very close in the dof plane. Could be the image size playing tricks with me.

Secondly.. (not sure if the picture was cropped but i'm going to assume it is for the sake of this criticism lol) The crop on the guy on left seems little.. awkward. It doesn't seem natural to me. I know alot of people crop off the top of the head and i'm okay with that, but something about this picture doesn't seem right. If the crop was slightly higher maybe up to the hairline.. also expand it little further left would be better.

But overall like i said. Great capture! Now you gotta rate mine mwhahaha.

I didn't forget you :P

I like the vignetting you added. It keeps my eyes focused on the subject and down the corridor. I noticed a couple of small flaws though.

First, if you look at the image carefully.. the floor isn't level. It raises up to the right slightly. The "wall-line" on the left further exaggerates it.

Lastly, i would like the white dress just a tad bit brighter, and also some fill light on the subjects to show slightly more detail on the skins.

7/10

**I have alot of gorilla shots. I stood at the gorilla exhibit for a little over 3 1/2 hours >_>

I like the composition etc, but maybe you should have cropped a bit more in the front.

You rated that portrait a 5/10 for the reason "thing in background is distracting"
I think I just choked a little. That is by far one of the best portraits in this thread, let alone the entire forum.
I think this plain, simple, boring photo of a tent with 2 chairs lacks" interestingess", focal point and fails to show any technical considerations taken into consideration when it was shot.
You could have even boosted the contrast in Photoshop to make it at least somewhat appealing.
Sorry if this comes off harsh, but you just rated one of the best portraits I've seen in this forum in a while a 5/10, and then posted rubbish.
1/10.
