Unless you're sporting a square format camera, I really dislike the crop. Composition is'nt favorable imo.

square format is for an assignment. I have the full one just don't have the file available to upload. thanks ^_^

I´m going on without a rating since it´s already been done.

tried out my new speedlite 430 EX II with this little funny project. unfortunately it turned out the same shit as last time. I just cant manage to focus the glass and the later on splashes with my camera. and I barely recognize where to focus lays with the pretty small viewfinder of my 1000D. any tricks and tips on how to get really crisp and sharp splashes of water? it´s really frustrating, since 99% of the shots were focused on the black background, which was leather textured, and not the actual object ( the splashes ). this one is the only decent one, but only due to sharpening in photoshop >.<

Manual it. Turn up the lights, focus on what you want, then turn off. Are you intending to combine two images to have both the water and the glass sharp? The lighting seems all right.

What i recommend doing is placing a pen or a ruler on top of the cup in the middle. Either AF or MF onto the pen, once focus is achieved.. put the lens on MF. Set aperture on f/6.3- f/8~ and shoot away.

Those deal mainly with drops, but the setup should essentially be the same.

first of all, decrease the image size xD
my monitor is small
E> or crop it, there's a lot of empty space, just my opinion
