Outifts look plain.
She is pushing her shoulders forward entirely too much.

Great shots, but they lack "heart" and look like just another photo.

first one is very good, model is beautiful.

I wouldn't say fat at all but her face is too "plump" to be a fashion model

And I personally HATE this aspect of high fashion. 100% of high fashion (in all the major fashion mags; Vogue, VF, etc) are photoshopped and unrealistic. It creates an unattainable situation that many young girls attempt to aspire to but will never achieve (without photoshop of course). But it continues to sell the beauty products.

This over zealous patriarchal view serves no real purpose other than to push more product and to cast about 3% of the world's women with a little PS help, into the "untouchable" and unattainable realm by the remaining 95%. <_<

There is a reason why it is HIGH fashion and why it is so difficult to reach that level. Because it's the top. What teenage girls don't understand, and also the public in general, is that high fashion models and beauty models are naturally stunning and have a near perfect body to start with. The general public would rarely even see a model like that. You can claim "Photoshop" and face manipulation until your face is blue but in my opinion, most of the credit is due to the make up artists who do a STELLAR job and the photographer to shape things correctly.

The video is kind of annoying. Not that I disagree with the underlying message, it's very important and quite powerful. But there is a difference between something that is over cooked and done right. That woman looks photoshopped to hell and the proportions of her face are way off.

and yet it is the majority of ppl that perceive this as beauty, if this were not the case then product sells with such advertising would dip
it is the consumer that dictates this NOT the photographer or any other person in fashion / advertising, they just appeal to what "we" want

I actually think it's swinging back to things being a lot more natural or more natural looking.

People aren't stupid anymore.

Agree and disagree.

Agree that make-up plays a huge role. But Photoshop is just as critical a role in "high fashion" as make-up. You can see how make-up can change things but the after pictures where the face is like a baby's ass ... no no. And these models were/are the top echelon. Sure some of them have great frames or faces, but many of them I wouldn't even come close to recognizing on the street. In fact, half of them look like average girls. And I've seen some pretty shoddy photography "before and afters" as well - of course fixed in photoshop because the cameras have 6000 megapixels.

edit: "high fashion" is about as real as santa claus.

I too say majority of it is up to make-up artists, I see a HUGE difference when I use really good MUAs
the it is - lighting - posing - and the PS

you certainly cant go by those "before and after" photos,
almost all the before's are taken without make-up'
no lighting or posing on the before's either
and some are taken at the worst time, could be ill, taking out the garbage etc
and some of them look just as good before as after

This.

Those girls are still stunning without makeup and in poor light. Look at their faces. Eyes, nose, jaws, cheeks, hairlines, necks.. no way are they like average girls.

The same goes with guys too. There are some beautiful guys. I'm not talking about "handsome with a buffed body", more with beautiful faces that are unusually perfect.

edit: perfectly comfortable with my sexuality to call a guy beautiful :P lol
