It's really not that hard, like anything else, you just need a lot of practice, I use it almost every day ha

Alternating between brush sizes is the key imo

Make a rough selection with the marquee tool of the area you want to liquify (0 px radius) This is so you aren't working with the whole image, its unnecessary.

Make sure you over select by a lot and do it rough, its not a mask.

Start off with a really big brush and push the area you want to decrease/increase in size. If you fuck it up, you can always control+z

If it's pushing too much, change brush size.

It's all trial and error until you get it.

Also, do a lot of visual research on the face structure, like beauty and high fashion sessions, just to make sure you don't create something that resembles a Roswell discovery lol

Here's a screenshot of my liquify settings in case yours a different:

i have just had a thought, why dont we have a little friendly compitition on here?
once a month or so one of us (i was thinking Lith, but we could all take a turn if prefered) selects something to practice/learn
we start off simple, maybe like skin retouching, or eyes, or even a single tool like liquify
we then all use the same image (submitted by 1of us), then we see what we can do with it, post our attempts, for review and more guidance

what you all think?
there really are endless things we can practice, hell i know i hav LOTS to learn

i like the idea, maybe not a competition, but like a discussion and workshop.

we might not get enough people for a true comp.

i have to admit i dont use all the functions of my PS enough and would love to learn more.

Cool idea mate and I'd be happy to help out :)

But what I would really love to see shooting assignments/workshops/discussions.

Something like maybe one week go out and ask a complete stranger for their portrait! Or one could be shooting a portrait with 3 light sources (any sources!)

That would be something ;)

This. I'm not sure about a competition, we're all pretty friendly and I'm sure it can be for fun and personal gain of course :)
