Now how good of a quality photo can I snap with the 3100? I don't see to many good examples of the quality photo I want to shoot but then again, it is a beginners camera.

This review blog always posts sample photos taken by the camera. Here's the ones for the D3100:

you will not be able to tell the difference, if used correctly
if you posted a shot with each camera here we would not be able to tell the difference, it would be a total guess

With this site, it says that "Also new to the Nikon D3100 is its 1080p Full HD “D-movie” mode. At the highest resolution setting, the camera can record movies at cine standard 24fps; while at 1280x720 pixels you can choose from 24, 25 or 30 frames per second. " and I was told that the 3100 did not shoot video>??????? If that's the case then the 3100 wins for me at least.

if you are totally new then basically get any cheap dslr (recommend nikon or even sony if you get it cheaper) so yeah this is one is great to start with
dont spend money on extra lenses etc, rather go on a basic photog course

after that you will know if you want to continue or not, and then can invest more as you see fit

Ok thank-you, so just go into the basics, then see if I'll like doing photography and explore if it is something I want to do. Ok, thank-you for the recommendation.
