In august this year I sold my Nikon d7000 and bought a 5d mk II.
Overall IQ had no dramatic change. But the one thing that does it all is the colors out of camera. Even after editing I could hardly get the same incredible results with nikon as I do with my canon straight out of camera.
There's no way I'll switch my 24-70 L for anything else then another L lens!
Just my 2 cents.

uh it could be the lens you used with your Nikon.
The Canon L lenses are known to produce images with better colors, contrast and bokeh than consumer lenses.
I am sure lenses like Nikon AF-s 24-70 2.8G or 14-24 f2.8G would give similar or even better images than the 24-70L.
Wait until you have used the Canon L primes

A little yes. The only decent AF point is the middle one. But after working around that I get way better end results then I did with my old d7000.
or you could use a 1.6x crop camera like 60D or 7D when shooting moving objects at least that's what I do

Yup it does, kinda bad one till you get used to it.
It really depends on what you shoot. It's more than adequate for landscapes and portraits.

I'm a big Nikon fan, and they have nothing compared to the 5d II. Can't wait for the D800 to be released.
How about D3X?
The D3s is superior in almost every aspect except for resolution. Image quality wise it offers lower noise and better dynamic range.
Ever wondered why the new Canon 1D X only has 18 mpixel?
