do think the 7D is more suited to what you want / need
5D is more of a std money maker camera, awesome for events etc

sorry not really been much help

She's obviously wants it to shoot horses. It's a big investment that should pay itself off.

I love horses..... I know to make more money I should go towards weddings and such, but I don,t know if I would have the patience, and I'm not bold enough to just jump into it without any experience..
But with horses, I know what looks good and what not, and I can spend 8 hours straight in the sun and wind and heat and dust and still enjoy the beauty of it :)
I love shooting people when they least expect it.. did 2 photo shoots with people and it went well, but it's not natural for me...

These are some of my 'good' portraits.. of course none of them knew I was aiming at them ;)
But they still have one point in common...or maybe 2... they are all horse related, and they were all taken with a rented 70-200 2.8 Canon (yes, the nicer one...)
Unfortunately none of these portraits got me any money... only action shots are wanted ;)

read up on google on how to create a market for a particular product you want to offer. after a few basic reads, check back with me :)
