You won't (as far as I know) make a living off taking pictures of extreme sports.

.

this isnt true. i know 4 photographers who make there living off shooting extreme sports lifestyles. 2 of them shoot fly fishing 100 percent, one guy does skiing/snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. I also know a proffesional expedtion photographer who has worked on a ton of projects, from climbing K2 to surfing around the world.

They key to making it as a succesful extreme sports photog ios experience in the sports, good luck being added to a group to climb a mountain or or go on an expedtion if you dont have the non photography skills to go with it. Wanna shoot skating/snowboarding, well u better be friends with all the locals who can really lay it down. From there its a matter of being a succesful freelancer.

Very good advice!
And so true!
I'm trying myself out in the horse photography, and hard as it is, I can't imagine someone who doesn't have any horse knowledge do something good in this! :)

Oh when they are not moving and held by their owner, it's fine...
But when they are running 25 mph and jumping, it's hard to get the perfect timing :p
Because one pciture that might look good for the someone, might look horrible to the horse owner if the horse has a bad position...

depends on if the horse is trotting or galloping or what not, i didnt ever do a running horse. i personally dont even really like horses. they are to expensive, they require a ton of land that is better off as native/farm. thats just me though. they also shit a lot and moving hay suks.
