dude what the fuck is the 2nd picture ? both look amazing but i am thoroughly confused as to what the second one is !

There was a fingerprint smudge on the rear element. LOL, no idea how it got there.. i'm usually pretty good about taking care of my glass.

Guess the smudge messed with the AF confirmation on the camera.



It's a 80 minute exposure. The stars move with the rotation of the earth making the start trails.

The 18-55 IS is sharper than the 24-70. But sharpness isn't everything.

Woops...I meant 17-40. I don't know why my brain glitched. No the 18-55 is not sharper than the 24-70!

The 17-40 is definitely not sharper than the 24-70. I have the 17-40 and it is only as sharp, if not even less then the 18-55 IS. The 17-40 is better and color saturation and contrast, but is very similar to the 18-55 in sharpness.

Before anyone says I have a bad copy, google comparisons between the 17-40 and 18-55 IS and you'll find there are many similar reviews. This is not to say the 17-40 is a bad lens. There are a lot of other advantages when comparing to the 18-55IS, including full frame compatible, constant aperture, faster Af, and better build quality but sharpness definitely isn't one.
