Thank you guys.. I'm really happy with the IQ and ISO capabilties but i think i'm starting to regret my purchase.

The AF performance is horrible compared to my old 50D, especially in low night even with notoriously fast af glass (135L). The shutter lag is killing me and the left column button doesn't seem to have a crisp feedback like it does on the 50D. The mirror slap doesn't sound as good as my 50D either.

:( I'm a sad panda

lol you gotta learn how to use the AF. Not as bad as you say. Mirror slap shouldn't sound bad, so I dunno.

Try a 7d/5d combo. 7d rox low light focus.

AF is not good also with other lenses?

Anyway GZ, many people are using 5DII with gozu results, so go ahead and do not be sad. Maybe you only need to get used :)

You have buyer's remorse. Just get out there and shoot with it man. Post some results on here so we can see. I don't know how you're used to shooting with your 50D, but you need to use the center point on the 5DII. This point should be better than the 40/50D, while I believe the rest of the points will be worse.

I'm seriously considering selling this for a 5Dc and 7D combo. Even my 50D destroys the 5DII in AF performance. :(

Those people that told me 5DII's AF isn't that bad have either never shot with a 50D/7D or they've been living under a rock for the past 7 years.

I guess i was spoiled by the 50D's 9 crosstype AF points. I almost always never use the center point but the outer points when i compose, guess i'll have to "re-learn" how to shoot with the center point. Focus and recompose.. sigh.

The mirror slap sounds very "weak" compared to my 50D's "energetic" tone.

Well i'm using it with a 135L which has a reputation for a extremely fast and accurate AF.. and it still hunts with my 5DII when using the surrounding AF points.

I guess i'm just doubting it at first. I'll have time to shoot during thanksgiving break and hopefully it'll change my mind when shooting real life subjects.

Oh gawd please no. The 5DII was already expensive enough as it is.. If i moved to 1D that would have to be the 1DIV. The III was a failure in many people's eyes and the 1DsII or 1DII/ 1DIIn doesn't stand up to 5DII's image quality.

I'm not sure about the silent mirror slap mode? You mean liveview? I'll have to read the manual lawl

Yeah, the 50D has 9 crosstype AF points while the 5DII only has center crosstype with 8 linear AF. The only thing the 5DII beats the 50D in AF is the center point with has expansion assist. I'll go out and shoot next week when i have time and i'll post more pictures/ :)
