I think a baby animal is great cause as it grows and changes size and physionomy, the poses will change also and so will everything else.
You can make it interact with the changing seasons and holidays.
It doesn't have to be yours if you don't want to get into pet ownership, but if you know someone who is getting a kitten or puppy.... or even a tarantula
