The stock images used in graphic design are usually taken with very professional camera's and lenses that cost thousands of dollars..

not to mention that many of them are shot using professional studio lights and lights used by professionals.

I really don't know what genre of art you are thinking of doing. Pick up a used lens ... one of the best to go with that cam is the 14-54.

And yeah, you might need to invest in lighting or be subject to using window light, or turning on tungsten white balance and using home depot shop lights. All depends on WHAT you are doing and how far you wanna take it.

its more about experimentation and I am a kid still, i think it would be better for me to create my own lighting and see where that gets me.
could you link me to a site where i can buy these things? at reasonable prices ofc, the ones you recommended

Where do you live?

Btw, I started photography when I was 13. I started with a simple dumbed down point and shoot and practiced composition until I felt decent at it .. then got my first SLR and began experimenting with more controls.

We all gotta start somewhere.

This forum is 100% legit ... I have purchased stuff for it. Other than this forum I recommend craigslist where you can meet someone (At a public place) and try before you buy.

I see one on that page for $220 ... http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/showthread.php?t=59190

Btw, before you actually buy something I recommend you go out and get it in your hands and play a little. In fact, this guy I know wrote a useful little guide to purchasing stuff.
