It's a jpeg, probably saved at medium qualitiy, 120kb is absolutely normal for 550x550 px image.

You need to learn the "save for web" feature on PS.

Thank you :)

Here you go, a screen shot of the image size box, uncropped, hardly touched and the image set to 200ppi. Are you telling me a 13mp 5d can shoot at those dimensions @ 200ppi? :(

What software were you using to stitch the photos together?

Photomatix Pro 3 for all the exposure merges, then Autopano Pro for the panoramic stitching.

I have the PM settings down to a T so it will constantly give me the right tonal range. I've found that AP is very smart software for alignment and tonal merging.

I should do a little tutorial if anyone would be interested.

I'd be interested, I've used PTGUI for stitching together photos to then make Quicktime VR's, but never used autopano.

A massive fucking pain, you need to make sure every single point is mapped out properly otherwise the resulting panorama/VR doesn't look right.

A good wideangle lens helps massively though, as you don't need to stitch so many photos together that way.

Wow, definitely get Autopano Pro then. I rarely have to change anything. I guess I over shoot the shit out of a shot for a pano (At least 50% overlaps)

I shot every image @ 70mm on the 70-200 for the above image. I found that shooting for high res stitches at that focal length gives like a large format sort of focal compression.

Nah :)

Why would you suggest that?

Are you saying I'm making it up? :(

Not nice mate.

Yes, he is. Just don't bother.

Anyway I think the image is amazing. I love the stormy sky.
