That dual SD card feature is a bit nice, even though with the gigantic file sizes I'm clueless as to why they didn't use CF.

I agree, I didn't quite understand that either.

I think a lot of people who use this in a studio with setup a tethered system though.

I'm a bit confused as to why any cameras over 10MP use SD anymore, unless it's because most of them don't have the capacity to even harness the speed you can get with CF. CF is just a much better format in my opinion..

You effectively have 12 stops of dynamic range on the MF Digital sensor (between shadows and highlights)

Our eyes have 24 stops dynamic range. Digital SLR's are around ~8, sometimes 9, depending on the sensor (Canon's and Nikon's top line stuff)

Simple example; If you are shooting a scenery with a Digital SLR (with an ~8 stop range) where your meter reads 10 stops between the highlights and shadows (Highlight exposure = 500th @ f16, Shadows exposure = 1sec @ f16) you will need to make a sacrifice with your exposure because your sensor cannot comprehend such a dynamic range of information. You will need to expose somewhere in between this range or selectively expose for highlights or shadows. Shooting for HDR can be effective in capturing the complete stop range of your scene, although it is irrelevant at the moment.

Ahh so thats what it means. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Is 12 stops the max dynamic range for MF sensors?

I would imagine currently that might be true, but technology is always advancing, unless there is some physical property preventing it from ever going up.

Pretty much this.

It is also a lot more compact and easier to integrate into the smaller consumer D-SLRS.

Yeah, well last time I read, the Mamiya has a 12 stop range and I just came all over the place :O

Dynamic range is pretty much the exposure range between Highlights and Shadows.

Negative film is around the 9 stop range ;)

(i'm saying range so much it's starting to sound weird)
