That and 50 year old Nikon lenses work so if you don't mind limited auto modes and no autofocus you can use old (perfectly good quality) lenses.

Yep. My favorite lenses to use w/ my D80 are about 30 years old...

simple explanation please, don't want to read so much lolz

I prefer Nikon.
We have a Canon at school for yearbook, I took some pictures with it and disliked it very much so.
Then again, its only one of Canon's cameras, but I still vote Nikon ;D

Pretty much impossible to say which one is better without making an opinionated argument as both brands do pretty much the same thing.

I've used Canon xxxd's, xxd's, 5d's (I and II), 1Ds Mark III and other 1d variants. Also used Nikon Dxx's, Dxxx's and the new D3 / D3s'.

I prefer Canon because I'm comfortable with the button layout and I trust their gear (only because that is what I shoot with)

My boss shoots with a couple D3s' and I must say they are a fine camera.

Canon IMO*

Chase Jarvis's "The best camera is the one on you" is a good motto too. (Eg. Cell Phone)
