Thanks everyone for your comments and advices..
I was too confused to get my credit card out and buy a new camera yet...
The price of the Canon is appealing, but I don't want to pay that amount and still feel need to upgrade in a year...
I'm sure there will be other specials before Christmas (or even after) then I'll post again asking for your help!!!
Love you all

you cant help that, there are always new models that come out every year, its the same with everything technological.
say if you were to wait around for a good price on a computer you would never get the best deal! because computers are getting faster and faster and they are upgraded every half year / year. :(
so i think you should stick with your gut feeling and just buy one!
remember its about the lens and the mind behind the camera, not the camera itself. :)

hmm well 1850+ tax for a 7D isn't that bad so I think your belief that you will never be able to afford a higher end camera is a bit exaggerated and pessimistic :p
besides some of the higher end Canon L lenses cost almost as much or more. My ef 24-70 f2.8L is only a few hundred cheaper than a 7D so if you want to invest in good lenses you will need to save at least 1500 which is doable if you dont waste your hard earned money too much like I have been doing lately on food hahaha Oh lord i think I spent like 500 bucks in the past four weeks on food only and me and my coworkers and friends regularly order or eat out :D but I guess having fun cost a lot of money too :S
Anyway! I guess if you really don't want to upgrade your camera body you could get some of those really fast lenses like 50mm f1.2L but then again as I said it would cost you almost as much as a new camera body.

well mrs Grinch I believe he meant that Canon L lenses are relatively cheaper than Nikons. I dont know much about Nikon lenses but I am pretty sure Nikons 24-70 f2.8 cost like 400-500 than the Canon version :p

hey! not fair. :fume:

i need a new lens, but i cant afford it, and with the price of L lenses i could buy 2 cheaper lenses that i need! :(

you should buy old manual focus lenses. i just bought zeiss 135mm 3.5 and it has better color, bokeh and wide open sharpness than my 24-105mm L lens

It's exaggerated, yes, but pessimistic not really; I just don't have an interest in buying a camera worth 1900 dollars. xD. I don't plan on getting these higher end Canon L lenses either. Lol. I am not going pro so I don't really need that high end stuff. I'm just doing this for fun, I don't need the best.

Do other lens have auto focus on them, or only 'L' ?

All new lenses from Canon have autofocus. :)

"L" lenses are weathersealed. This does not mean that they are weather or waterproof. :P
