lol can anyone show me pictures taken from these cameras?

Look at any "classic" photography to see what's achievable with film.

I know what you mean, I learned on a 55mm film camera in Photography class last year.
But I'm just saying he'll be able to learn from the pictures he takes, and the more of those pictures he can take he'll get better.

I know in class last year, there were plenty of times I wish I could have taken the picture again but the conditions weren't the same the second time.
And if I were able to take more pictures or even been able to see the picture [even when it's on a small LCD] after I took it to adjust it and take it again.

Maybe, but then just being able to snap away isn't really a good thing. He's already got a camera he can snap away with, film would help him improve shots.

I also have an XSI/450D and am thrilled with it, the image quality is above par and it is really good fun.

I can understand what Veilside is saying, but what makes a good photo? you don't know until you've experimented, 36 chances to get good photos, what if you make 36 cock-ups? I know I would if I was new to an SLR, that's a roll of film wasted and you wont even know the pictures are bad until after!

Look through this pool of photos to find out what the 450D/XSI is capable of! Alternatively you can always google for sample images.

you can get it with a standard lens 18-55mm IS for $700

Here's photos taken with that kit lens. They are most probably all taken with the XSI/XS because this is the lens that is included in the XSI KIT at purchase.

To give you an idea.

e/ just in case you dunno 18-55mm on the XSI is a zoom lens, and at 18mm you are zoomed out and you can see more than what the human eye can when looking in a cirtain direction, at 55mm you are looking a little more zoomed in than the human eye.

Yes. Is it the photographer who is making the photos. I have seen pictures with a 450D look like a point and shoot. xD

The point? It's just another lens.
