who says you have to learn from professionals? and it doesn't really matter your going off topic and i'd love to hear your reasoning for it but please don't post it here there has been enough off topic posts in this topic so lets leave it at this,
if you don't think that we should be learning from people who don't fully understand the techniques why don't you give us a hand and post some guides by some people who know the techniques fully ?
My two cents:
If a guide is not from a professional, both the guider and the the guided should be fully aware that the technique is provided as such and may not necessarily be one professionals would use. Thus, any guides we post here should probably be offered only as shared findings and subject to any criticism. As long as this criticism is thought out and valid, then the author should undoubtedly accept it (which is obviously not happening in certain cases here) be it negative or positive. I agree that user-provided tutorials may be useful but they should be viewed as nothing more than informal findings, and not some golden treasure chest everyone needs to appreciate and value the same way the author may.
Edit:
Also, they should not be glorified. Links to them should be used sparingly and not at the author's discretion (or sometimes lack of). Ahem..
