here, just did a shot where noise would be apparent

the left side with the nr feature turned off
the right with the camera's in built nr feature turned on

both straight shot jpeg (ofc shoot raw for further reduction)

the camera does very well at removing the chroma noise, imo, i would have shot raw and used dpp or other software like you said to remove the luminance noise

e/ both ISO 1600 at indoor dull light

I looks okay. But i think the one with nr. feature is turned on is a bit unsharp. :S

thats why id have shot in RAW and processed them, therefore removing almost all the noise, and sharpening the image if necessary.

but for a feature id think it would be useful if you didnt have time for software etc!
and suprisingly the nr process didnt take any time at all.

Thats why i'd advise every SDHC camera user to go get a 4/8GB Sandisk eXtreme III. Sandisk say it will do around 20-30MB/s read-write and i got 60mb/s when i was transfering a load of RAW's to my pc. Very useful!

Hope i've helped ^^

The 50mm 1.8 is worth it! Sharp and cheap! biggrin.gif

I have not tried the 55-250 much. It is 4.5 - 5.6, I need light. biggrin.gif
