whatcha think about my setup? will it be ok for a begginer to DSLR?

and whatcha think is the best canon lens for wildlife//action?

Code
Olympus OM-1 SLR
Olympus 50mm f/1.8
Ensinor 80-200mm f/4.5
Sunpak auto 200 flashgun

By 25th Dec 2008 gear:

Canon EOS 450D 18-55mm IS kit DSLR
Velbon CX-640 Tripod
2 x Sandisk Ducati SD
Remote Switch
Random Bag

the velbon tripod is useless, im guessing ur getting it free with ur SLR.
Remote switch isn't really a priority because of its limited usage, not to mention that your tripod is so shaky that it wouldnt matter if u had a remote.

For now, i'd say you're downgrading since you're loosing out on a flash, a portrait lens and a telephoto... in exchange for a kit lens on a better body.

For wildlife, u need a telephoto
For action, u want a fast lens that's wide. u could survive with 17-55 kit, but prob. not for long... plus it depends what action. Are u talking about rad skateboarding effects or hockey games?

Like I said, it's an investment. I'm 15 right now in the path to becoming a commercial photographer, Pocket Wizards would last a long time.
Through university.

Indeed. They do last forever. BUT! what im saying is that the 300$ could be better invested somewhere else for now since the pocket wiz's aren't necessary yet (example: second flash)

nah buy the tripod for £25 and get the switch free

i wouldnt have got the tripod and switch if i hadnt have wanted to take pictures of fireworks and lightning

the pros say its impossible to take photos without having both of these things (mirror lockup)

yeah the olympus is ok but its not digital so nvm

+the olympus+kit was free smile.gif

i agree, but having an unstable tripod is like having none at all. It'll def. entertain u for a while though but it won't be long before u realize u need a better one
I have one of those velbons and god... i hate it lol.

Im being too cheap to buy a good solid manfrotto and head!!

Used to use my father's camera's (Canon 10D with 24mm 1.4 mostly) when I still lived at home.

However, ever since moving out, I was without a camera, so bought myself a nice pocket one: the canon powershot G10. It's awesome.

$300 is nothing. I get about $800-$1000/month.
