its a very very nice camera. I have used XTI/400D a few times sometime ago and I loved it
and I think you will do more than just fine with 450D/XSI
lol I bought 40D back then because I was willing to spend some more on the body itself and I knew I wouldnt be able to buy a tripod right away so I preferred the better high ISO performance. I think you should get the 450D and then get a good tripod
but of course the decision is entirely up to you to make lol I was just telling you how and why I chose 40D as my very first DSLR
