well I guess everyone has his/her preferences but I think most photographer would go for image quality before speed if that makes sense lol

alot of people still buy used nikon D2Hs for the sports... it's 8fps and only 4mp.

It really depends what you take pics of

Edit:

Also, it's not just the RAW fps power.
I don't really use my 10fps, but I need the low shutter lag and mirror blackout.

That slow-motion is awesome. Being able to achieve 400+ fps is really cool. Enjoy.

hmm I see lol well Ive seen people buying 30D only for the fps too lol

so how low is the shutter lag on 1D mk3 compared to 5D mk2? I mean trading a fullframe vs crop is quite a sacrifice at least if you shoot whole a lot of landscape. lol im just curious its not like I am going to buy 5D mk2 soon, if ever. And I have no idea what mirror blackout is, is it the same thing as mirror lock-up? well I have heard that mirror lock-up would reduce vibrations which reduce blur lol I really should try that since I like to shoot in low light biggrin.gif

mirror blackout is the short period of time that gives you a black viewfinder while capturing an exposure (the mirror is up so you see nothing). It's the time the mirror takes to lift and get back into ready position.
A long mirror blackout time can compromise your tracking ability.

I can't find the official data but I remember (and feel) that the 1D series has at least half the shutter lag of the 5D.

I owned a 5D for quite some time and I really must admit that it feels sluggish, even compared to the 40D.
Sadly they didn't improve in the 5DmkII.

The 1D is made of many many little features that spoil you...

oh I have noticed mirror blackout when I was shooting handheld night photos biggrin.gif well or any photos depends on what shutter speed i choose but it never really bothered me course I never really took the advantage of the high fps of the 40D.

Well you know you get what you paid for I mean when I had my 40D I didnt even want to touch my old p&s lol course there was such huge difference between a dslr and a crappy p&s
