Either brand is good.

The entry lv cams are better on canon's side though... nikon still uses CCDs on their D60.

Lens wise they are the same.

Personally I think nikon lens are just plain ugly, also I don't like the fact that very very few are rated as "weather sealed"...

I think I might go with the cannon.
It's on sale right now, for cheaper than the D60, but when its not on sale its around $750.

+ I'll have a bit left over to buy w/e fancy things I want biggrin.gif

Can anybody tell me if this Canon Rebel XS/1000D has the thing in the LCD that rotates when you rotate the camera???
Also, will a 58MM filter with on the 18-55mm lens supplied in the kit?

-Thanks biggrin.gif

I think it has option to turn images right side up all the time, not lcd rotation.

no u wont get a filter or a big enough memorycard with the camera. Personally i dont think kit lens eny protection filter since its just a toy lens, get the 50mm and filter for it, it only costs around 90-100 dollards.

This is an endless argument. What's better, Canon or Nikon? Neither is better. They both have pros and cons.

I PREFER Canon but I don't exactly think it's "better" than Nikon.

lol no offense but it doesnt matter if you have super gozu camera if you dont know where to point it tongue.gif
I have seen people taking incredibly nice photos with simple and crappy point and shoot cameras... talent is something you can't buy with money you know tongue.gif
its pretty much like sports the equipments only help you achieve better results but in the end its you and your talent and experience that really matter

True, but people stretch that too far. 80% of a great picture is the photographer. The other 20% is the camera for quality, depth of field, fish eye capabilitys, ect.
