Well it's pretty simple to use the flash off camera and I recommend getting the YONGNUO wireless flash triggers to start with, I have a set and they've never failed me.

Do you get direct sunlight in the garage? If so, try hanging up a large white sheet (semi-translucent) and diffuse it.

Nah, that's not my girlfriend, that's the dancer :)

I did get those, and I lost the cord.

And wtf, I just went to amazon so I could show you the ones that I ordered, and it was for Nikon. I have no idea why I would have done that, I already had my 5d by that time -____- http://www.amazon.com/Yongnuo-Wireless-Trigger-Shutter-Transceiver/dp/B004YW79F4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Depending on the time of day, yes. I dont shoot when its coming in though. I just need to get a gigantic pane of glass, lol.

Oh, is she a photographer too?

Mmm you shouldn't need the cord, just attach the receiver to the flash hot shoe and the trigger to the camera hot shoe?

Okay, that's the reason why your shots are coming out dull. You need a lot more light! Direct sun is too much, you need to get to a level where it is in between direct light and complete shade ie. diffused light ;)

Nah she's a MUA/fashion designer/fashion stylist. Bit of this, bit of that ha

I have no idea. Cant really test it out though since I bought something for Nikon instead of Canon -__-

I try to do that xD Its very difficult, there is a small window of time and sometimes I just cant do things during it. I seriously might get a huge pane of glass though, I have a friend who gets glass super cheap because of where he works.

So heres a pic from earlier, I tried to get her closer to the light and I also tried to warm it up more..this is just what I edited in raw. To me her face seems kind of blown out, but Im sure Im not seeing it right.

That's much better than before :)

The problem I see is that the light is so soft and direct, it fills every shadow. Try turning her slightly, create shadow.

Don't bother with the pane of glass, you're only fucking around and delaying the inevitable. Invest in a couple of box's and flash heads if this will be your thing. Especially if you are using custom backdrops and environments.

Could be a niche for you in the area with the different backdrops and textures. Offer something the others don't ;)

I know you like that faded look. Check what I did by clicking one button in lightroom:

Of course you can tweak it further to how you want but just imagine.. selecting a whole shoot, clicking one preset.. and you're done for client previews :)

Start using lightroom, you're fuckin killin me here haha :wallbash:

so much nicer, more depth - face isn't so flat

I agree, use LR I made the change and love it, far simpler and faster

also agree that you have to learn lighting, get an off camera flash going
its so simple you will love it, so much control, wont be long and u will be adding more and more, I have 4 and still want more
you have the yongnuo triggers but what flash? also yn, what model?
you don't need the cable at all, normally only used if you using it as a remote

Im gonna sound like a noob here I guess, but arent shadows a bad thing? I try to make sure there arent any.

Alright :P. I have been trying to do that, one of my fave things is buying fabric in two yard increments, it makes for great child backdrops and I can get stuff that you dont see all the time.

I cant, lol! Its just too difficult, and ps is so amazingly easy.

One huge thing I hated too was that I couldnt preview what Id done as far as editing, unless I missed it somewhere. I have to see my differences.

Mm, I actually dont like that edit >.< Her skin looks..harsh. It lost her kid softness :P. I hope you dont think Im being too much of a pain in the ass, I really am taking in all of your cnc. Im just super particular about editing I guess.

Also remember that these arent dramatic magazine photos, Im just showcasing products for vendors on Etsy. Sweet, soft, and vintage are what sells on there.

How do you guys afford this stuff? I always use my return to get new gear and Im still tapped out so quick.

the 560 is a manual flash so it will work with canon and Nikon no problem
I have used my canon with canon triggers to fire a Nikon flash (as manual) and it worked fine but don't think u can use a canon camera and Nikon triggers
yes as long as its for canon (which those are) it will work, the "C" denotes what cable it comes with, the cable is ONLY needed when you are using the triggers as a wireless shutter release, the C3 is the correct version for the 5d 1/2/3
