Time for some COLOR! Got my gels in the mail the other day. Just begging for an excuse to use them. Put two on a flash and fired away.

My wife and I could both see it lol. Thanks for the comment.

Speaking of Kurt though. He actually came up in the paper the other day.

Bountiehunter DAY 29

There is absolutely nothing good about this picture. BUT while I did have a hectic day there is no excuse for not posting so here we are! My wife and I needed to print out a couple quick examples of our work so we could go to our local artists meeting. Sadly when we went to walmart they refused to print the photos because it didn't look like we took them... (Especially me taking the pictures of myself) So we had to quickly drive back home and put a bunch of the original files on a cd. To cinch the deal I took a self portrait right there in the store to show them how I do it lol. They didn't have a problem after that and printed our pictures.

Well looking at the photo. If you wanted to do it "Old school" you have everything you need right there in the picture. Most old portraits are quite simple. Pretty much just someone standing or sitting while looking at the camera. In regards to the picture in general. I think it would benefit you best to try playing around with setting up your own light. Block out the sources you dont want and use lamps flashlights anything to put light where you want it. Use a mirror to bounce light. What would a thin white sheet do to light bounced off a mirror ? How could you use that. etc etc etc. Good lighting can make or break a shot. Also as far as looking ridiculous I think you look quite beautiful.

I do love day shots like this ;). I put a 580ex II flash real close to my face at full power and let the thing rip. To take a shot like this you need a bright sky. Be sure to get the proper exposure on the background. If you take a picture of yourself it will come out as a silhouette. Set up a powerful flash and blast away. It should light you up and you'll have a shot worth.... well... you know.

Please do join in. Its always nice to have a fresh face.

Also for all those concerned. This weeks theme is going to be a thing of Nightmares!
