So does anyone here try to get clients through facebook mostly? People dont seem so interested in websites anymore as they do with facebook.

If so, how do you go about promoting yourself? I just took out an ad, but I dunno what else to do. I see all these horrid pages with thousands of likes and I just dont get why I hardly have any D:

more work comes from word of mouth, but then again i have a job booked because some1 posted one of the shots i took of her on fb, some1 else saw it and wanted me to shoot them

there are tricks to fb;
dont post a full set of photo's at once, upload them in small batches (around 4) each day, or at leaset several hours between, this way they appear more often and on alot more peoples feeds
find ways to get more people to like and share your photo's etc, that way it will appear on other peoples feeds
let others tag photo's and encourage them to do it

Because people buy likes, it's a huge fucking scam lol

sadly this is true, the whole world is a scam

I am actually guilty of doing this. I thought it would help make my page look better and more interesting (I got about 200). Unfortunately most of those likes have disappeared, probably because the pages were bots and shit.

What can I say, Im desperate.

I know, I totally hate that.

I reaaaally cant make myself do free shoots anymore. I feel like Ive done my share of free, and I will never get taken seriously if I continue doing that. Plus I put way too much into my shoots and processing to give work away. I live in a very tiny town, the shoots that I have gotten have been either me asking the person if they want photos done (when she was very pregnant I asked about newborn photos) and she liked my work so later on she referred a friend to me who got photos done. Other than that, nada. I dont even get any inquiries, and its really mind boggling to me. Well Ive gotten wedding inquiries and thats it, but I turn them down because thats not what I want to do.

instead of a free shoot, set up a compitition on fb
where they have to like a photo, share it, and comment on it, then u "randomly" pick the winner
you should get more likes (and potenitial clients) form that and then also once you post the photo's, tag them for more likes and comments
its a snowball effect

have you done SEO for your website?
if not you MUST
unfortunately it will only help if people are looking for survices in your area, but its still a must
however on fb if they like your style etc, they are more likely to contact you for a shoot, even if they werent specifically looking to do 1
again if they like your fb they will often take a look at your website

oh and another point, your website should be basic and simple to navigate

its too early for me to be doing this much, so please excuse and spelling errors and if it just plain doesnt make sens

I have done all of this, save for the competition. Ive thought about doing that but I honestly have no idea how to go about it. And then theres the fear that no one will reply, embarrassing D:

I did just post an ad in like 3 spots on craigslist about an hour ago and Ive already gotten an inquiry about family pics :D.

On a sour note, my demon child got ahold of some scissors and chopped off a good chunk of her hair. Super awesome considering I have a ton of stuff I still need to shoot her in for vendors on Etsy.
